28 Feb Olio – Revolutionising food sharing
Co-Founder & CEO: Tessa Clarke
OLIO is a free app that connects users with unwanted food (households or local businesses) with neighbours living nearby who would like it. Globally, over one third of all food produced is thrown away (worth an estimated $1 trillion), and in the developed world half of all food waste takes place in the home. This means that WE are half the problem; but… it also means that WE can be half the solution!
OLIO now has over 650,000 users who have together shared almost 1 million portions of food. This growth is largely thanks to our 22,000 and counting volunteers who are spreading the word in their local communities, and collecting and re-distributing unsold food from local businesses via the app. Check our their website below on how you can make a positive change today.
