21 Jun Superplus: Leveling the Digital Playing Field for Kids with Special Needs
Co-Founder & CEO: Katrine Gulstad Pedersen
Millions of children around the world struggle on a daily basis with the effects of a development disability, be it from Autism or other diagnoses. Superplus want to help these children live a fuller life by giving them mobile and tablet apps that will allow them to develop, build confidence and master their everyday challenges.
Children with special needs were stuck using old tools like printed flash cards for verbal communication or applications too complicated or boring to use regularly — which research has proved that play and engagement can help them overcome some of their challenges.
SuperSpeak is the flagship product from Superplus that helps your child to communicate via a mobile device. With the use of photos and sounds taken from his or her own surroundings, children can express their needs, initiate requests, respond to questions or make social comments by forming words and sentences using an easy-to-use visual interface.
It also has a Play area where children can grow their vocabulary through a variety of visual lessons. As they progress through engaging exercises, they earn points and unlock fun and personalized rewards. Data reports for parents and special needs providers gives real-time updates on engagement and progression.
Why we love Superplus: It’s a suite of educational apps that uses strategies from the gaming world to bring clinical research and practical teaching together, within the special needs ecosystem.
