04 Sep Thesis Couture: Re-engineering the High Heel with Rocket Science
Founder: Dolly Singh
A four inch heel that’s comfortable? Dolly Singh is turning the pain of wearing high heels into motivation – to re-think the high heel design by using technology and engineering. Thesis Couture is a fashion-technology company working to reinvent the stiletto and boasting a remarkable, cross-disciplinary team from artisans to astronauts. What is being called the world’s first performance driven stiletto uses structural engineering, advanced materials, and a keen focus on human factors. The 21st century heels improve load distribution across the foot, shock and friction, resulting in a comfortable shoe that doesn’t compromises on aesthetics.
Dolly Singh had previously worked with companies like SpaceX and Oculus VR, creating previously unimaginable technology. But the high heel was still made up by century-old thinking and design. This was a problem someone had to fix. So Thesis Couture was born to create heels that women can wear everyday — dispelling the notion that glamorous high heels have got to be uncomfortable.
Why we love Thesis Couture: The high heel hasn’t changed since humans went to the moon. The company effortlessly integrates fashion and tech, challenging the norm that was both unhealthy and painful.
